On 7th Jan 2022, Titan Optical, established in 2002 as professional glasses cases and cleaning cloths manufacturer within Universe Group, acquired the GRS certificate for its cleaning cloth and plastic cases made using Recycled materials such as recycled PET, Recycled ABS, and recycled PP, etc. The GRS certificate was issued by Intertek Testing Services NA, Inc.
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a voluntary product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in a final product. The standard applies to the full supply chain and addresses traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, chemical content and labeling. With GRS certification, Universe Optical Group can communicate to customers our commitment to truth in materials and support for a circular economy that reduces waste by using it to make new products. For instance, one ton of Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (Recycled PET) is made from about 67,000 discarded mineral and coke bottles. Using one ton of recycled PET can save 14 gallons of petroleum, 1,400 gallons of water, and reduce the emission of carbon dioxide by 4 tons. Besides, Tiatan’s every single supplier that provided materials for GRS products is also capable of providing GRS certificate for their raw materials.
It specifically requires the recycled components weigh at least 20% of the total for an independent product to meet the requirement of GRS. Remarkably we have developed products that contain 80% to 100% recycled materials as listed in the certificate.
Universe will apply for Transaction Certificate (TC) for all our GRS certified products as required by our customers.
